Thank goodness for sunny days spend with your closest friends, your bae, your dog, or just a good outfit. One of my favorite things to do is be by the water…doesn’t matter where–it can be a pool, the lake, or the ocean (I’m totally a mermaid). I spent the day frolicking in the sun in my new O’Neill jumper that they sweetly sent over to me. I’m so ready for more days like this.

I think we can officially say Spring has definitely sprung meaning one important thing…Mother’s Day. Now I know it can be hard to find the perfect gift every year that you feel your mom deserves which is why I was so excited when I discovered Bluebonnet Lane. I’m such a girl sometimes…I claimed it necessary to embrace spring by purchasing bright pink lipsticks and nail polish to match, so I was satisfied when I opened a box from Hurley to find this pink top inside. Something about the color, it literally brings me some kind of joy. So does long boarding. I actually enjoy falling off my board, getting a little dirty, and playing outside. As long as I get to wear my pink lipstick while doing it 😉
I have a lot to be thankful for right now and life has been an unpredictable roller coaster for the most part. Every day brings something new for me to discover and by just going with the flow, I learn so much more about myself. I can’t wait to see what the next few months hold in store and plan to continue focusing on all the good I am surrounded by, or even the small things. Like an electric pink tank from my friends at Hurley.

I love to explore as much as I can and I enjoy going to new places to take in something completely unseen. And then there are those places I feel I just can’t get enough.White Sands, New Mexico is definitely one of them. I first made my way out there with my family when I was 14 where I did cartwheels with by brothers and watched my mom turn into a little kid again. The 2nd time I went with my brother and best friend, right before an incredible storm started rolling in turning the whole sky a brilliant navy blue. This past December I again got to take in the beauty of this place. Though it was a little bit colder compared to the times I went in the summer, it was even more beautiful than I remembered. I can’t wait to make my way back out there and create new memories to build on top of the old ones. Thank you immensely to O’Neill for sending me my wardrobe for this trip as well.

Supporting fellow artists is something very important to me. I love watching people create and live their passions out loud. It’s inspiring and and unique to see someone constantly go after their goals and push themselves to get better at whatever that passion may be. Kevin Fougerousse is an impressive artist I met a few years ago while randomly attending an art gallery in Dallas. I wandered around with a glass of wine falling in love with the vivid colors jumping off the canvas. I stumbled into a room upstairs where I found him painting live for an intimate audience and was in awe with how effortlessly he made his talent look (his model good looks make him even more fun to watch). His work is undeniably great and resonates a modern Picasso feel in some pieces.
I asked him a few questions to learn more about his journey with drawing and painting.
Kris: What was the first painting you ever sold?
Kevin:Â The first piece of art that I sold was the first painting I ever painted. It was a very small painting of the face of a girl, hair covering half of her face. It was about 4 inches by 7 inches. I was surprised somebody asked if the could buy it from me.
Kris: What inspires you most to create?
Kevin: The thing that inspires me most often to create a piece of art has to do with relationship emotions, love, hurt, loss, hope, beauty all the ups and downs.
Kris: What impression do you want your work to leave behind?
Kevin:Â I want people to feel an emotion, connect with understanding on some human level. Inspired in some way possibly or simply just comforted. Maybe see the light of hope portrayed even in the darkest expressions of my work.
Kris: What is the longest amount of time you have spent creating one piece?
Kevin:Â The longest I have spent on a painting is usually not too long. Done in a day a lot of times. There have been a couple pieces that I don’t finish for months and even a year or so. That is what I call “touch time” where I’m actually touching and changing paintings. I let the painting paint itself in a way. I start laying paint down till parts of it start to feel complete and I work the rest until it all feels right.
Kris:Â Just for fun-If you were stranded on an island what 3 things would you bring with you?
Kevin:Â A toothbrush, a time machine, and a set of pink goggles and snorkel. Not baby light pink though, more like rich vivid bubble gum pink.

There’s a spot in Newport Beach that is called ‘Sunset Hill’ or something along those lines…It’s a big hill you walk up to grab a perfect view of the sun setting in NB. I’ve passed it many times but never made the short trek up there…Now I think it’s my new favorite evening spot. The kind folks over at DeLacy sent me this tank that has a very noir feel to it. I paired it with a wrap skirt and sunhat for a fun summer outfit.

It’s almost Spring, what the heck! I don’t really mind because that means I will get to go back to living life in nothing but a bikini. I’m all for comfort, bold colors, or fun prints. Greenlee Swim sent over this rad suit that fit me perfectly and looked like every surfer girls dream. So, as soon as I saw this awesome bikini from Toxic Sadie I knew it was made for me. It’s psychedelic pattern and sexy front cross tie with embellished bottoms were calling my name. I had a fun jam session in Laguna Beach while enjoying the new suit…(It even comes with caution tape for how hott you will look 😉 ) Check out their other swimwear too! The Fall clouds have been glooming over Huntington Beach these past few mornings  creating a heather grey blanket over the sky while the sun hides under it. Though I miss the rays warming up the beach and prolonging the life of my tan, I am digging how the streets have slowed down to cool off. Throwing on a loose sweater makes me feel cozy and stylish which sometimes is a hard combo to master when it comes to fashion. Luckily, our friend’s over at Lulu’s sent over some warm threads that are soft to touch and have the right amount of funky to liven up the gloom in the air.
